"Polling Analysis: For Bush, bad news comes in fives....

......it can't get much worse, or can it?

Hey, it could be worse - right? Well, as it concerns President Bush's standing with the people, it can't get much worse. At least not without him either being impeached, or plunked before a war crimes tribunal. A recent poll conducted by American Research Group, showed the President's approval at 36 percent. Since that poll was released, the news hasn't gotten any better for the President.

A more recent
Los Angeles Times-Bloomberg Poll has found just 43 percent approving of Bush's performance. That is his worst showing ever in that particular poll.

"He received even lower marks for his handling of the economy, health care and Iraq -- especially from women, whom the poll found have turned against him on several fronts.

"By a 2 to 1 margin, those surveyed said the nation needs to change direction from the overall course Bush has set."

They say bad news comes in threes, which, for the President, would be a welcome reality. A new
Harris Poll finds that, "As President Bush prepares to address the country with the State of the Union, only one-third -- 32 percent -- of U.S. adults believe the current state of the country is good, while 68 percent believe it is poor."

As if the above information wasn't bad enough, another poll, the
CBS-New York Times Poll found, "President Bush's approval rating is stuck at a dismal 42 percent as he heads into next week's State of the Union address."

The Poll also revealed, "At the same time, a clear majority, 64 percent, is concerned that the Bush administration's anti-terrorism measures could threaten their civil liberties. A third are 'very concerned.'"

CBS' polling uncovered still more bad news for President Bush, "Fifty-four percent of Americans say the war in Iraq is going badly, versus 45 percent who say it's going well.

"Many Americans are not convinced the president is painting an accurate picture of the situation in Iraq. Fifty-eight percent say he describes things as better than they are, while 31 percent say his descriptions are accurate."

Finally, did someone mention impeachment? A
Zogby Poll posted on January 16, 2006, revealed 53 percent, including 29 percent of Republicans, believe Bush, if he spied on citizens without obtaining warrants, should be impeached. That marks the beginning of bad news coming in fives, which, in-and-of-itself, is another ominous sign for the President.

Nobody gets bad news in fives! It's always threes -- has always been threes. Who gets bad news in fives? George W. Bush, that's who gets bad news in fives.

Still, according to the previously cited LA Times-Bloomberg Poll, only 36 percent approve of Congressional Democrats. Perhaps, a youthful 20-year-old Dez Jackson summed it up best, "I was watching the news and I heard nothing from the Democrats," Jackson, who was sharply critical of the president in the survey, said. "What are they, afraid to speak up?"

As the polls show, not only is the country fed up with President Bush and his policies, and willing, if necessary, to have him impeached, but the people seem to be crying out for leadership - real leadership. They are looking for Democrats to step-up and do something - anything, but the people don't see them as delivering.

Yet, for President Bush, impeachment and war crimes tribunal aside, it can't get much worse - or can it?
