- U.S.: 'Very high' chance of WMD terror strike

LONDON, England (AP) -- There is a "very high" probability that a terrorist group will strike using nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, a senior U.S. counterterrorism official said in comments published Tuesday.

"I rate the probability of terror groups using (weapons of mass destruction) as very high," U.S. State Department counterterrorism coordinator Henry Crumpton was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph newspaper. "It is simply a question of time."

Crumpton said a biological attack was potentially the most troubling scenario. He said evidence from Afghanistan suggested al-Qaeda had been seeking to develop anthrax before the overthrow of the Taliban regime in 2001.

"It is not just the nuclear threat that bothers me," he was quoted as saying. "I think, if anything, the biological threat is going to grow."

"As catastrophic as a nuclear attack would be, it would be self-contained. But if you look at a worst-case scenario for a biological attack, it would be difficult to determine whether or not it was a terrorist attack, and it would be far more difficult to contain."

Crumpton told the newspaper that U.S. and international efforts had severely disrupted the al-Qaeda network since the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States, but that "in all probability" Osama bin Laden was still alive.

Uh Oh.

I guess the I-word has been used one too many times.

We are being threatened again; "behave and stop making noises we don't like, or there will be big trouble."

The only Anthrax floating around over here, came from our own bio-weapons lab, in Maryland. No one seems all that interested in finding out who attacked Democrats, exclusively, and, for the most part, the "liberal" media with our every own special strain of Anthrax.

The threat of attack with WMD is very high, you say.

I bet it is strong desire, after what Bush and company have done to Iraq. I still really doubt the capability of people who are "on-the-run," to build a sophisticated weapon of mass destruction capable of doing massive damage and causing mass deaths.

One more question: Why would it be so difficult to tell if the out break of disease was from a bio weapon?

If there is an outbreak of Small Pox, anywhere in the U.S., we can be pretty damn sure that it is the result of a bio-weapon of some kind. Who used it? That will be the question that I will be asking.

Lately, there has been the mystery of Tularemia being detected during a two day period in September when the mall was filled with protesters. Tularemia is very rarely found in cities, but in the agricultural states in the South. It is the policy of the CDC to automatically assume that an outbreak of Tularemia in any large city is the result of a bio-weapon. Tularemia would be a good choice to hit a very targeted group of people, because it is not contagious, from person to person. It would not be a good choice, given Osama's stated goals. it would not induce wide-spread panic for very long and would not harm the economy for very long, if at all.

A mutated strain of Avian Flu will be just the thing. A strain that can be passed from person to person. But the preznit has a plan for just such and event, and it is, of course, a military plan.

Martial Law and Suspension of the Constitution are such ugly words to use in a so-called Democracy. Quarantine for the public good  is much nicer and it even makes ones plight seem a bit noble.

Heads up blue staters!
