Rothenberg: Dems Will Take Senate, Win 34-40 House Seats | TPMCafe

Make it so!

Rothenberg: Dems Will Take Senate, Win 34-40 House Seats TPMCafe:

Political wire has advance excerpts of Stuart Rothenberg's latest ratings, and Rothenberg is predicting a wholesale routing of the GOP. He says Dems will win the Senate: 'We believe that state and national dynamics favor Democrats netting six seats and winning control of the United States Senate.' And the House by an overwhelming margin: 'We believe the most likely outcome in the House of Representatives is a Democratic gain of 34 to 40 seats, with slightly larger gains not impossible.'

How Low Will Bush Go? (We doubt there is a limit)

Here's the thing; we just simply do not believe that the vast majority of Americans are still all that afraid.

We have been constantly told that we should be afraid and that we are afraid, but are we really?

Have Americans really become the biggest cowards on earth; scared of our own shadows?

I certainly hate to think so, because we are in for the fight of our lives, no matter who wins Tuesday's elections and the enemies of our freedom and constituional rights are a lot closer than Central Asia.

Eugene Robinson - How Low Will Bush Go? - washingtonpost.com:

If Democrats manage to take control of one or both houses of Congress on Tuesday, the reason will be that voters were not adequately roused into a state of heart-pounding, knee-knocking, teeth-chattering fear.

Not that Republicans haven't been trying. George W. Bush used to claim he was 'a uniter, not a divider,' but that was a long time ago. These days, he'd probably try to deny the quote the same way he tried to disown 'stay the course.' The Karl Rove formula for political victory has been to draw a bright line between 'us' and 'them' and then paint those on the other side not as opponents but as monsters.

Bushies betting on Saddam verdict for election bounce

They really should not count on it. Nobody cares.

Iraq cancels leave before Saddam verdict - Yahoo! News:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq canceled leave Friday for all military officers two days before an expected verdict — and possible death sentence — in the trial of Saddam Hussein. For the second time this week, a top Bush administration official huddled with the Iraqi prime minister.

GOP sees drop in number of voters in Mass.

This is just the beginning of a national trend.....

Just hide and watch. The Republicans are about to go down in flames...or America will.

David Frum, WH Speech Writer: Bush ‘Just Did Not Absorb Ideas’

Bush has concrete for brains.

I don't know why it is a shock to this man that he cannot absorb ideas.

Pensito Review » David Frum, WH Speech Writer: Bush ‘Just Did Not Absorb Ideas’:

I always believed as a speechwriter that if you could persuade the
president to commit himself to certain words, he would feel himself committed to
the ideas that underlay those words. And the big shock to me has been that
although the president said the words, he just did not absorb the ideas. And
that is the root of, maybe, everything.

Soft Coup: Editorials in Military Papers to Call for Rumsfeld Ouster

To be followed by a hard coup....

A coup for a coup, as they say.

Pensito Review » Soft Coup: Editorials in Military Papers to Call for Rumsfeld Ouster:

Breaking: On MSNBC, Keith Olbermann is reporting that on Monday, the day before the midterm elections, editorials will run in the most influential military newspapers calling on President Bush to fire Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

The editorials will say they are giving voice to a silent majority of uniformed personnel who are are prohibited from speaking because of respect for the office of the presidency.

The editorials will run in Army Times, Air Force Times, Marine Corps Times and Navy Times, which are privately owned and not affiliated with government.

RNC takes donations form Porn King

More of those good old Gooper family values.....

The Blotter:

Despite running an attack ad accusing a Democratic senatorial candidate of accepting money from 'porn movie producers,' the Republican National Committee itself has accepted several donations over the past few years from the president of a large pornographic movie distribution company.

Security & Terrorism - Expert: GOP plays politics with intel

So, what was this about the Goopers being tops in National Scurity?

"Vote for the GOP or die?"

A five year old would know better than to do something this freakin' stupid.

If this isn't cause for impeachment, nothing is.

United Press International - Security & Terrorism - Expert: GOP plays politics with intel:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Muted Republican reaction to news that nuclear weapons information was posted on a government Web site has been slammed by non-proliferation experts.
The New York Times reported Friday that officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency objected to U.S. government officials putting up about a dozen Iraqi documents, containing 'charts, diagrams, equations and lengthy narratives about bomb building' from Iraq's pre-1991 nuclear program captured in the invasion of Iraq.

The Web site was established in March to make public Iraqi documents seized following the toppling of the Saddam Hussein regime. According to the Times, its birth was the result of Republican congressional pressure to help make the case that Iraq had an active program to develop weapons of mass destruction -- a key rationale for the 2003 invasion, since debunked by a massive and fruitless search.

The Great Divider (is also the great deceiver)

The greatest of deceivers, deceives, first, himself...completely....absulutely.

The Great Divider - New York Times:

As President Bush throws himself into the final days of a particularly nasty campaign season, he’s settled into a familiar pattern of ugly behavior. Since he can’t defend the real world created by his policies and his decisions, Mr. Bush is inventing a fantasy world in which to campaign on phony issues against fake enemies. As President Bush throws himself into the final days of a particularly nasty campaign season, he’s settled into a familiar pattern of ugly behavior. After President Meets Reporters, Sullivan -- Once a Bush Backer -- Now Suggests He May Have 'Lost His Mind'

Seems real conservatives like Andrew are finally realizing what we have known for at least three years: Bush is nuts, literally...clinically.

Do we have a proceedure for this? How do we get clinically insane peope out of the White House?

After President Meets Reporters, Sullivan -- Once a Bush Backer -- Now Suggests He May Have 'Lost His Mind':

Sullivan said the president was 'so in denial,' comparing the Rumsfeld endorsement to applauding the job FEMA's Michael Brown did on Katrina: 'It's unhinged. It suggests this man has lost his mind. No one objectively could look at the way this war has been conducted, whether you were for it, as I was, or against it, and say that it has been done well. It's a disaster.

'For him to say it's a fantastic job suggests the president has lost it, I'm sorry, there's no other way to say it.....These people must be held accountable.' He added that today, Richard Perle, a leading neocon and Iraq war backer, had today called the administration 'dysfunctional.'

Lobbyists Won't Like What Pelosi Has in Mind

Pelosi has the right idea!

What is bad for lobbyist, is good for Americans

Lobbyists Won't Like What Pelosi Has in Mind - washingtonpost.com:

Odds are that lobbying in the House of Representatives is about to get harder.

If Democrats gain the 15 seats they need to win control of the House -- and most analysts think they will -- one of the first things the new House will do is restrict or end outright a slew of lobbying practices.

In a little-publicized statement, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the House Democratic leader, has promised to change the chamber's rules to reflect the provisions of her not-so-modestly-named Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2006. The months-old measure would, among other things, prohibit House members from accepting gifts and travel from lobbyists or from organizations that employ lobbyists.

Democrats Are Seen to Gain in Statehouse Races - New York Times

It is beginning to look like any meaningful Rethug majority on the morning of Nov. 8, House or Senate ( federal), state or local, will be majorly suspect in a big way, in close races.

This could get ugly fast.....then again, maybe not.

No one knows....really....it all depends on the definition of ugly, I guess; or maybe, one's own deeply held comprehension of pariotism..... real patriotism....not nationalism or racism.

Ugly, to me, is fear-mongering and deception.

How much more does one need to know, to see the stench before it enters his/her nostrils, like a deadly gas?

Oh yes, a metaphor, if you please, the stench; the stench of a gas called methane; fear-expressed, yellow, human-skunk juice, so to speak. Yet it is in gaseous form, as it rises from bogs and pig farms....rising faster than CO2, thanks to the thawing of the Siberian permafrost.

Global warming,,,,, Natural Cycles...... A combination of the two?

Do I care?

You bet!

On one level....yes I do....

but on another.....it is all unfolding just as it should, given our collective path, not understood until recently.

Though many messages have been sent, over time, Americans must, in order to survive as a nation, wake the hell up!

Perhaps, tightly-enforced unity, on a national scale, let alone a global scale, is still not possible for us, homo-sapiens, currently.

Perhaps, we........well.....own too much of a certain truth: Deception and fear-mongering are the gateposts through which we pass on the road to hell.

Just wake the hell up!

Democrats Are Seen to Gain in Statehouse Races - New York Times:

DES MOINES, Oct. 27 — More than 6,000 state legislative seats in 46 states are on the Nov. 7 ballot, and like the seismic state elections in 1994 and 1974 the cumulative impact of the outcomes could be immense, with Democrats possibly gaining control of a majority of state capitols for the first time in a decade.

The real problem is that it is illegal for one country to invade another country

Everyone is talking about BushCo incompetence, but how can we know if they are incompetent or not, since none of us really knows what the hell they are doing and why?

Ultimately, as the author points out, it is all quite beside the point.

Can anyone spell "Nuremberg?"

TheStar.com - The real problem is that it is illegal for one country to invade another country, says Linda McQuaig:

But incompetence is a side issue. The real problem is, and always has been, that it is illegal — not to mention immoral — for a country to invade another country, in other words, to wage a war of aggression.

The fact that Iraq is the last unharvested oil bonanza on earth, in an era of increasingly fierce global competition for dwindling oil reserves, only makes U.S. motives all the more suspect.

As the Nuremberg Tribunal concluded after World War II: 'War is essentially an evil thing ... To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is not only an international crime, it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole.'
