Drive out the Bush Regime

January 25, 2006

Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in their sights.
Your government is openly torturing people, and justifying it.

Yes, it is true. There is really no way but one, to do what we must do, to save our country and try to defend the rest of the world from madmen who hold great power in our land. The only legal means given to us by our constitution is impeachment and trail by the senate. Barring that; another revolution, against another King George is all that is left.

It need not be violent.

Your government puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.

True. With the new so-called "patriot act," a new "patriot police force" is created, which can do pretty much as they damn well please. But this police force is not for deporting people for "suspicion" of terrorist ties" or immigration violations. This one is for Americans who publicly dissent in this country, who openly disagree with, and/or protest the Bush agenda of insanity, cruelty and criminality.

...and it gets worse...

Your government is moving each day closer to a theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule.

....and there is no cruelty or crime against humanity quite so vile as that which is done in the name of God.

During the Crusades, Muslims were eviscerated for Jesus. (Well, actually, because the crusaders had heard that Muslims would swallow their gold in order to protect it.)

During the Spanish Inquisition Jews were forced to convert to Christianity or die.

Hitler, too, used Christianity as one of his excuses for the wholesale slaughter of six million Jews and others, he, and he alone, decided were some kind of threat to his fatherland or, more truthfully, himself.

The Theocons in America today are every bit as dangerous as the crusaders of old. They hide behind Holy Scripture, about which they know just enough to be dangerous, and they lash out with their tongues, spewing hateful, fear-mongering, toxic babble.

No, their words cannot physically hurt anyone, but they do a lot of psychological and spiritual damage to the weakest and most vulnerable among us. Their hateful words have, on occasion, given permission for the most angry and ill among us to beat people to death or severely injure them. All the while, the preachers of hate wear smarmy little grins and talk about how they love the sinner and hate the sin.

They are the new Sadducees and Pharisees, in cahoots with a new empire, and there is no such thing as an empire that is not evil.

They demand to be allowed to pray, out-loud and in public, in direct violation of the teaching of the man they claim as their lord and savior.

They make their good works known far and wide, through the use of television and mailing lists, also in contradiction of what Jesus taught his disciples. Of course, their good works cost money......."send us your social security check, grandma. and you can be a prayer partner....a sure ticket through the "Pearly Gates."

Now, they are determined to shove their twisted brand of Christianity down all our throats, by codifying it as the law of the land.

Next, we will be having witch-burnings, but they won't be in Salem and they probably won't be member of a coven. The bonfires could be in Kansas or Texas or South Carolina, and the crispy critter could be an Episcopalian.

People who believe that, whatever horror they are committing, they are doing it for God or for Jesus, are some of the most dangerous people on earth.

There is nothing more scary than someone who would torture, murder, rape, pillage..... in the name of the Divine. Self-righteousness; spiritual materialism, as it is practices today in America have nothing to do with Jesus Christ, the prince of peace.

Your government suppresses the science that doesn't fit its religious, political and economic agenda, forcing present and future generations to pay a terrible price.

This administration is absolutely, jaw-droppingly stupid and seem to be proud of it. The religiously insane do not care about the earth, because they all believe they will be raptured soon. With the Bush administration, there is absolutely no difference in corporate and political criminality and corruption. They are seamless. The good thing is that more people are seeing it, because it is so obvious, with CEOs in high places.

Your government is moving to deny women here, and all over the world, the right to birth control and abortion.

I, personally, am not crazy about the idea of abortion. I am also not crazy about the idea of women being subjugated by biology, or the law, to irresponsible and/or sick, dangerous men. Over-turning Rove v. Wade will not stop abortion. Just ask G.W. himself. Word has it they he arranged for a girlfriend to have an abortion before the 1973 Roe decision.

Birth control should be not only available to women, it should be free and easily attainable. There is no sin worse than bringing an unwanted child, whose parents cannot afford to raise it, into this nutty world to fend for itself.

Your government enforces a culture of greed, bigotry, intolerance and ignorance.

Let's not forget about corruption and lawlessness.

People look at all this and think of Hitler - and they are right to do so. The Bush regime is setting out to radically remake society very quickly, in a fascist way, and for generations to come. We must act now; the future is in the balance.

We agree from the heart of our very souls, and for reasons in addition to the ones mentioned in this article.

Millions and millions are deeply disturbed and outraged by this. They recognize the need for a vehicle to express this outrage, yet they cannot find it; politics as usual cannot meet the enormity of the challenge, and people sense this.

Yes, we believe you are right. The people, too, are right. Politics as usual, at this moment in our history, is tantamount to treason.

There is not going to be some magical "pendulum swing." People who steal elections and believe they're on a "mission from God" will not go without a fight.

Yep, in 2000, unbeknownst to many of us, the pendulum swung all the way off its screw.

There is not going to be some savior from the Democratic Party. This whole idea of putting our hopes and energies into "leaders" who tell us to seek common ground with fascists and religious fanatics is proving every day to be a disaster, and actually serves to demobilize people.

We have been saying this for a long time.

The Democrats cannot or will not lead, for whatever reasons.

Maybe they are scared.

Maybe they are too vested in the system, no matter how corrupt.

Hell, maybe they are afraid they have been wire-tapped, and can be black-mailed for something. Most folks have secrets, not necessarily criminal, that would be highly embarrassing, if they were printed in the paper, or screeched about on CNN or MSNBC for 90 news cycles. Look what happened to Clinton.

We can only hoe that the Democrats can be led by the people. If they cannot, we are through as a Democratic Republic, and the world is in very serious danger.

But silence and paralysis are NOT acceptable. That which you will not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn - or be forced - to accept. There is no escaping it: the whole disastrous course of this Bush regime must be STOPPED. And we must take the responsibility to do it.

We agree. There is no choice for decent Americans who believe in the founding principles of our nation, even if we have never lived up to much of it before. We must not stop trying.

And there is a way. We are talking about something on a scale that can really make a huge change in this country and in the world. We need more than fighting Bush's outrages one at a time, constantly losing ground to the whole onslaught. We must, and can, aim to create a political situation where the Bush regime's program is repudiated, where Bush himself is driven from office, and where the whole direction he has been taking society is reversed. We, in our millions, must and can take responsibility to change the course of history.

Pray tell!

Acting in this way, we join with and give support and heart to people all over the globe who so urgently need and want this regime to be stopped.

This will not be easy. If we speak the truth, they will try to silence us. If we act, they will to try to stop us. But we speak for the majority, here and around the world, and as we get this going we are going to reach out to the people who have been so badly fooled by Bush and we are NOT going to stop.

The point is this: history is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. And it is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined. The future is unwritten. WHICH ONE WE GET IS UP TO US.

The World Can't Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime!

Let's make a plan an just do it
