Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has previously said that Israel should be 'wiped off the map' and has threatened to aim directly at Israel if the U.S. or anyone else tries to eliminate its nuclear facilities by military force.

Bush maintained he was keeping all options open to resolve the crisis, despite his preference for a diplomatic solution.

Iran has already blocked unscheduled inspections to monitor its compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty by the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency."
