Iranians Fault Rice's Dismissal of Letter - Yahoo! News
So, here is the deal, Condi: If this nation is attacked again, you are a dead woman. Got that?
Junior will still have his secret service protection, though I am not all that sure it will do him any good.
You on the other hand, will not. You will simply be facing angry mobs with torches and pitch forks.
Iranians Fault Rice's Dismissal of Letter - Yahoo! News:
"TEHRAN, Iran - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's abrupt dismissal of a letter from Iran's president might only strengthen hardline attitudes and mistrust of America, some Iranians warned Tuesday. "
BuzzFlash Interview: Ray McGovern
The man who did, in a few short minutes, what the MSM has not managed to do in over 5 years, takes on the criminal Bush dministration and tells the truth.
BuzzFlash Interview: Ray McGovern:
"Twenty-seven-year CIA veteran and BuzzFlash contributor Ray McGovern confronted America's Secretary of Defense in a public forum in Atlanta on May 4, asking the questions that are on all of our minds. He peppered Rumsfeld with facts that clearly contradicted Rumsfeld's own words. He asked Rumsfeld whether he lied, or was misled, about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction and significant ties to al Qaeda. As Rumsfeld obfuscated, he urged him to be up front with the American people, adding: 'These people aren't idiots. They know the story.' Like Stephen Colbert the week before, Ray McGovern laid out the truth for all to see. Ray McGovern spoke with BuzzFlash about that experience, about the lead up to the Iraq war, and about what he fears may come next. "
A tale of two Cheneys
Is Cheney's heart medication making him senile, as well as a paranoid psychotic?
WorkingForChange-A tale of two Cheneys:
"WASHINGTON -- It came as something of a shock to have to agree with Vice President Cheney, but what he said last week about human rights in Vladimir Putin's Russia was accurate, even laudable.
Then Cheney went to Kazakhstan and you wondered if it was the same guy talking.
Speaking to Eastern European leaders gathered in Lithuania, Cheney made the essential point about Putin's government: that 'opponents of reform are seeking to reverse the gains of the last decade.' "

Bush Setting up Attack on Iran
Tell them they had better stop this f------ madman, or we will!
Bush Setting up Attack on Iran:
"Now that the mission - whatever it was - has not been accomplished in Iraq, Bush is setting up a potentially bigger disaster in Iran.
Last month, Seymour Hersh revealed that the US military is making preparations for an attack on Iran. Recent events confirm Hersh's report.
The Bush administration is stepping up the pressure on the Security Council to pass a resolution that the US will use to justify an invasion. John Bolton, the US ambassador to the United Nations, is pushing Council members to vote on a resolution this week.
Hersh wrote, 'There is a growing concern among members of the United States military, and in the international community, that President Bush's ultimate goal in the nuclear confrontation with Iran is regime change.'
A former defense official who still advises the Bush administration told Hersh that the military planning is grounded in the belief that 'a sustained bombing campaign in Iran will humiliate the religious leadership and lead the public to rise up and overthrow the government.'"
Kremlin on Cheney: "Completely Incomprehensible"
Watch it Cheney. You mght get 'Fentanyled.'
Pooty-poot is pretty good at that, I seem to remember.
(OK, so I have fantasies, What else is there?)
Kremlin on Cheney: "Completely Incomprehensible":
" The Kremlin has described US Vice President Dick Cheney's tough condemnation of Russia on Thursday as 'completely incomprehensible'.
Mr Cheney made his comments in a speech in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius.
He accused the Russian government was using oil and gas as tools of intimidation or blackmail.
His comments come just over two months before the G8 summit of major industrial countries and Russia which is being held in St Petersburg. "
Potential Evidence Surfaces of Bush's Illegal Spying
Where the hell is the mainstream media on this story?
This is a good example of why they are becoming irrelevant.
Potential Evidence Surfaces of Bush's Illegal Spying:
"An Oregon attorney may have proof of Bush's domestic spying operation - which means the illegal program's days may be numbered.
Five months after news of the NSA's warrantless spying program broke, and after we've learned numerous details of the program's extent, a Portland, Ore., attorney may have finally obtained hard evidence of illegal wiretaps by the government.
Thomas Nelson has been practicing administrative law for most of his professional life, but after Sept. 11 he first began offering pro bono work for immigrants detained in broad FBI terrorism sweeps. He is currently leading a little-discussed case that may contain the first documented evidence of an illegal wiretap and believes that, as a result, he himself has been subjected to warrantless - and therefore illegal - wiretaps and physical searches, the kind of clandestine operation that Nixon referred to as 'black bag jobs.' And as a result of extreme carelessness by the FBI, Nelson may have his hands on the only solid evidence of these searches.
The story begins in February 2004, when the Office of Foreign Assets Control froze all funds of the Oregon branch of the Saudi Arabian charity Al-Haramain. Attorneys Asim Ghafoor and Wendell Belew defended the charity against the government's allegations that Al-Haramain Oregon was taking part in terrorist activities."
Bush Ignores Growing Opposition to Hayden
He doesn't have the sense God gave a dead jackass.
I doubt seriouly that he has a clue about the anger that is rapidly becoming dangerous to the max.
Bush Ignores Growing Opposition to Hayden:
" Washington - Ignoring opposition from Congress, President Bush nominated Gen. Michael V. Hayden on Monday to be the next CIA director, setting the stage for a confirmation struggle that is certain to focus on Hayden's military background and his role in a controversial domestic eavesdropping operation.
The Bush administration also moved swiftly to reassure beleaguered CIA employees by pledging that the agency would not be dismantled under Hayden, and offering the No. 2 position to a respected former spy who had resigned over clashes with outgoing director Porter J. Goss.
In pushing ahead with the Hayden nomination, the White House is staking the CIA's future on a strait-laced Air Force officer who is often praised for his keen understanding of complex intelligence issues as well as his plain-spoken style."
Emails From the Edge of Disaster
Time to drown the Bush administration!
Emails From the Edge of Disaster:
"Washington - On the day Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans, a former US senator who had become a registered lobbyist was trying to get the nation's top emergency manager to schedule a meeting to complain about a no-bid contract that was heading to his client's competitor.
'I am certain you are overwhelmed by the situation regarding Hurricane Katrina. I apologize for bothering you at this critical time and for going directly to you about this,' wrote former Sen. Tim Hutchinson (R-Ark.) 'I would very much appreciate being able to bring the President of Blu-Med Response Systems, Gerritt Boyle, in to meet with you as soon as your schedule permits.'
The email message to Michael Brown, then head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, arrived only hours after the devastating storm first made landfall in the Gulf Coast, pummeling Louisiana and Mississippi with Category 3 hurricane winds.
While many residents were awaiting rescue from rooftops or wading through toxic floodwaters, it was business as usual in the world of money, power and government inside the Washington beltway. Hutchinson's note was among more than 900 pages of Brown's email released Friday in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by the Center for Public Integrity. "
Republicans Set Aside Middle-Income Tax Cuts to Focus on Rich
This is great news!
The more these fools show there truly evil colors, the more likely they are to take their party straight to hell, right where it belongs.
Keep it up, Goobers!
Republicans Set Aside Middle-Income Tax Cuts to Focus on Rich:
" Republican lawmakers, facing the prospect that their power to cut taxes may soon be curbed, plan to extend breaks that mostly benefit the wealthy and Wall Street at the expense of reductions for middle-income households.
Six months before elections that may return a Democratic majority in at least one house of Congress, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee and House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois are focusing on extending the 15 percent rate on investments and repealing the estate tax. They won't push extensions of lower rates for all taxpayers and expanded breaks for married couples and families with children, which expire after 2010.
'In politics, timing is everything; you do what you can when you can, and this is what's queued up right now,' says Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, the No. 4 Republican in the Senate. Given the federal budget deficit, it would 'be hard to generate public support overnight' for making permanent the other tax cuts, he says."
White House keeps dossiers on more than 10,000 'political enemies'
Capitol Hill Blue: White House keeps dossiers on more than 10,000 'political enemies':
Spurred by paranoia and aided by the USA Patriot Act, the Bush Administration has compiled dossiers on more than 10,000 Americans it considers political enemies and uses those files to wage war on those who disagree with its policies.
The 'enemies list' dates back to Bush's days as governor of Texas and can be accessed by senior administration officials in an instant for use in campaigns to discredit those who speak out against administration policies or acts of the President.
The computerized files include intimate personal details on members of Congress; high-ranking local, state and federal officials; prominent media figures and ordinary citizens who may, at one time or another, have spoken out against the President or Administration."
Partisan Spying; for real
IMPEACH, TRY AND JAIL FOR LIFE!
Daily Kos: [UPDATED] The FBI Busts Goss, Wilkes, and the GOP Domestic Spy Industry:
"'Wary' reminds us of an example of Republican political spying that was kept so quiet by the mass media that you probably never heard about it. In November 2003, GOP staff to Senator Hatch, then the Chair of the Judiciary Committee, intercepted and leaked the e-mails of Democratic members. For reasons that weren't made clear, Hatch gave up that powerful post and Arlen Specter took over the Chair.
In addition to fact that this tawdry incident of political spying was all but ignored by most papers, there is a very familiar side to the story -- Robert Novak picked up the story, and spun it in his November 29, 2003 column.
There is a persistent M.O. to these GOP dirty-tricks. Plamegate wasn't the first hack and leak attack, and since passage of Patriot-2 gives the White House even more power to conduct warrantless surveillance, it likely won't be the last."
The FBI Busts Goss, Wilkes, and the GOP Domestic Spy Industry
Daily Kos: [UPDATED] The FBI Busts Goss, Wilkes, and the GOP Domestic Spy Industry:
Domestic Spying: GOP and private NSA-CIA Contractors
In his column yesterday, Josh Marshall just hints at this, but a lot more is going to come out about the relationship of private intelligence and defense contractors and how the GOP has used them to carry out covert domestic political spying and all variety of dirty-tricks operations. "
Ex-NSA Chief Assails Bush Taps
Whoa!
Wonder what Inman has found out?
Wired News: Ex-NSA Chief Assails Bush Taps:
"NEW YORK -- Former National Security Agency director Bobby Ray Inman lashed out at the Bush administration Monday night over its continued use of warrantless domestic wiretaps, making him one of the highest-ranking former intelligence officials to criticize the program in public, analysts say.
'This activity is not authorized,' Inman said, as part of a panel discussion on eavesdropping that was sponsored by The New York Public Library. The Bush administration 'need(s) to get away from the idea that they can continue doing it.'"
More on Hayden and MZM
TPM Muckraker May 9, 2006 12:18 PM (Printable Format):
"I wrote yesterday about how former NSA Director Michael Hayden's aide, a top MZM executive, participated in an illegal campaign donation scam run by the head of his company, Mitchell Wade. (Wade, of course, has confessed to bribing Duke Cunningham, and is cooperating with prosecutors.)
I was wrong, as my colleague Paul gently noted to me. The executive -- James C. King, on contract to the NSA from MZM -- appears to have participated in two illegal campaign donation scams.
In addition to faking $8,000 in personal contributions to Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL) on his company's behalf, government records indicate King faked several thousand dollars in donations to Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA), also."
Republican Outrage of the Week
Say what?
Damn! The Bushites have lost their collective mind, it seems.
Are they all hitting the bottle (or whatever)?
Democrats for America's Future: Republican Outrage of the Week:
"Here's a news flash for Americans: Remember that country we invaded right after 9/11? You know: The one that actually had a connection to terrorists. It turns out that the Bush Administration now says that the Taliban are not terrorists.
Sure, the Taliban may be attacking U.S., Canadian, and British forces, but they still don't count as terrorists ... according to President Bush.
As the Christian Science Monitor reports: 'When the US State Department issued its annual Country Reports on Terrorism ..., it listed numerous state-sponsors of terrorism, like Iran, and groups it considers foreign terrorist organizations, like Hamas, Al Qaeda, and Hizbullah. Conspiciously absent from the lists, however, was the Taliban."

Poll: Dim View Of Bush, GOP , Bush Disappoints On Key Issues; Democrats In Congress Trump GOP - CBS News
Do they not remember Katrina?
Junior is far more likely to create a crisis than he is to respond responsibly!
Poll: Dim View Of Bush, GOP , Bush Disappoints On Key Issues; Democrats In Congress Trump GOP - CBS News:
"CBS) President Bush and the Republican Congress show nearly record low ratings while Democrats are viewed much more favorably in their performance on the issues that matter most to Americans, according to the latest CBS News/New York Times poll.
Only 31% of those polled approve of Mr. Bush's job performance and 68% believe the United States is worse off today than it was before Bush became president.
Personal evaluations of Mr. Bush are the lowest they've ever been during his presidency. On the public's confidence in Bush's ability to handle a crisis, 51% had been the previous low in September 2005. That figure is now at 50%. The President's handling of the Hurricane Katrina crisis is tied to that decrease. "
Life in the Bush Economy: Fat, Drunk and Broke
Oh, well...the first world was nice while it lasted. Too bad it was as a result of so much horror, anguish, poverty, death and destruction; not to mention injustices and insults of all kinds.
We, in America, will be very lucky if we only have to adjust to the 2nd world.
However bad it turns out to be, we are about to get a major Karmic smackdown.
Life in the Bush Economy: Fat, Drunk and Broke:
"05/08/06 -- The Bureau of Labor Statistics payroll jobs report released May 5 says the economy created 131,000 private sector jobs in April. Construction added 10,000 jobs, natural resources, mining and logging added 8,000 jobs, and manufacturing added 19,000. Despite this unusual gain, the economy has 10,000 fewer manufacturing jobs than a year ago.
Most of the April job gain --72%--is in domestic services, with education and health services (primarily health care and social assistance) and waitresses and bartenders accounting for 55,000 jobs or 42% of the total job gain. Financial activities added 26,000 jobs and professional and business services added 28,000. Retail trade lost 36,000 jobs.
During 2001 and 2002 the US economy lost 2,298,000 jobs. These lost jobs were not regained until early in February 2005. From February 2005 through April 2006, the economy has gained 2,584 jobs (mainly in domestic services)."
New U.S. Foreign Policy for Palestine; starvation
It is worse than immoral, it is amoral!
Why can't someone help these people?
New U.S. Foreign Policy for Palestine; starvation:
"05/08/06 'ICH' -- -- The United States and Israel have finally agreed on a plan to resolve the decades-long Israel-Palestine conflict. Israel will continue lobbing missiles into civilian areas of Gaza and the West Bank while the US cuts off food and other vital aid to the territories. That way they can maximize the human suffering while preparing the people for a violent death.
This is not what Palestinians bargained for when they accepted the western-model of democracy.
The Road Map has become a cul de sac of aggression, subjugation and outright murder.
I wonder how many Palestinians would have stayed home if they knew how they'd be treated for voting for the party of their choice?"
Ahead of UN vote, debate in Israel over threatening Iran - Haaretz - Israel News
In other words, let the U.S. do the dirty deed...
Ahead of UN vote, debate in Israel over threatening Iran - Haaretz - Israel News:
"Senior defense ministry official Amos Gilad, appearing to counter a warning by Vice Premier Shimon Peres that 'Iran, too, can be destroyed,' said Tuesday that Israel should not use a language of threats in dealing with Tehran.
Major-General Gilad said Israel should not place itself in the front-lines of the Iran issue.
'Israel does not need to spearhead treatment on the Iran matter because this is a world problem. We suggest not adopting a language of threats. It is tremendously important for the world to isolate Hamas and it is tremendously important to isolate Iran,' said Gilad."
Election Theft Continues, unabated
The Free Press -- Independent News Media - Election Issues:
"Ohio's Republican Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell has grabbed the GOP nomination for governor in a vote count riddled with machine breakdowns. In Franklin and Delaware Counties, election officials had to 'shut down and recalibrate [machines] throughout the day,' according to the Columbus Dispatch. Election officials use recalibration as a code word when machines are malfunctioning including the recording of votes for wrong candidates.
Blackwell became infamous in 2004 for his role in swinging the Buckeye State, and the presidency, to George W. Bush, with whom he met with on Election Day in Columbus. Karl Rove also accompanied Bush on his visit to Columbus. Exit polls showed a clear victory for John Kerry until a massive mysterious late vote surge reversed the popular vote for Bush. The state was later the target of the first Congressional challenge to an electoral delegation in US history. "
Analysis: Bush's CIA Pick Latest Slammed - Yahoo! News
Looks like Junior is running out of insiders to nominate for anything, except wingnut judges, who seem to be all too numerous.
We hear that the General is a Cheney man. There is at least one report, by Jason Leopold, at Truthout, that Cheney was busy making trips to the NSA during the early months of 2001, before 9/11.
It would be nice if the MSM would check into that little tidbit and raise a few questions. Like, for example, when did the extraordinary spying really begin?
Analysis: Bush's CIA Pick Latest Slammed - Yahoo! News:
"WASHINGTON - Once again, President Bush may have misjudged the extent of GOP resistance to one of his decisions. His nomination of a four-star general to serve as CIA director has drawn complaints from Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike. "
Rick Santorum's Hostile Takeover
Dear Pennsylavnians,
Please get rid of this crooked hypocrit. You fellow Americans will thank you.
Rick Santorum's Hostile Takeover:
"As Washington Monthly reported in 2003, 'Santorum became the Senate's point man on K Street'- the corridor in Washington where corporate lobbyists have their offices. His efforts were widely known to be part of the 'K Street Project,' now at the center of a federal investigation.
Santorum 'held weekly meetings with top Republican lobbyists at which he discusses, among other matters, job openings at Washington lobbying firms,' according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. One of those attending the first ultra-exclusive meeting was none other than Jack Abramoff.
The goal of the gatherings was to fill lobbying jobs with loyal Republicans, who then funneled corporate cash to the GOP come election time. For his trouble, Santorum 'has received more money from lobbyists than any other congressional candidate so far in the 2006 election cycle,' according to the Post-Gazette.
Santorum denies it. 'I had absolutely nothing to do - never met, never talked, never coordinated, never.... " (Yeah right, read on ^)
Bush approval rating hits new low
USATODAY.com - Bush approval rating hits new low:
"Bush's fall is being fueled by erosion among support from conservatives and Republicans. In the poll, 52% of conservatives and 68% of Republicans approved of the job he is doing. Both are record lows among those groups.
Moderates gave him an approval rating of 28%, liberals of 7%.
'You hear people say he has a hard core that will never desert him, and that has been the case for most of the administration,' says Charles Franklin, a political scientist at the University of Wisconsin who studies presidential approval ratings. 'But for the last few months, we started to see that hard core seriously erode in support.'"
Feingold to Democrats: Stand Up to Bush
The Democrats had better listen to Russ.
The next two years will spell the end of one party or the other.
If the Democrats grow a spine quickly, it will be the Rethgs who go down. Otherwise, there will be a thrid party movement like nothing this nation has seen in modern times.
Feingold to Democrats: Stand Up to Bush - Yahoo! News:
"WASHINGTON - Sen. Russ Feingold (news, bio, voting record), a potential anti-war candidate in the 2008 presidential field, urged fellow Democrats on Monday to show more backbone in challenging President Bush on Iraq.
'We must get out of our political foxholes and be willing to clearly and specifically point out what a strategic error the Iraq invasion has been,' Feingold, D-Wis., told a National Press Club audience.
He said some Democrats in Congress gave in to 'intimidation' by the Bush administration when they voted to authorize the war in 2002, and warned: 'If we do not show both a practical and emotional readiness to lead in the fight against terrorism, we will lose in '06 and we will lose in '08, just like we did in '02 and '04.'
"NEWLY DISCOVERED DIEBOLD THREAT DESCRIBED AS 'MAJOR NATIONAL SECURITY RISK'!"
"We've now been able to gather a great deal of additional information concerning details about the story we first posted yesterday on the official Pennsylvania state warning issued about the new 'security vulnerability' discovered in all Diebold touch-screen electronic voting machines.
That warning, which has now brought a lock-down on all Diebold systems in PA, where early absentee (non-machine) voting is about to begin prior to their upcoming May 16th primary election, was reported by the Morning Call yesterday. The warning says the serious security vulnerability could allow ''unauthorized software to be loaded on to the system.'
Public details about the warning are still sketchy as those in the know have acknowledged that the problem is so serious, they are hoping to keep the info under wraps until mitigation steps can be taken to safeguard systems.
The BRAD BLOG has been told on the record, however, by one person involved in the matter, that the vulnerability is a 'major national security risk.'"

Is Bush a pathological liar, or what?
Either he is or he was all excited about catching a fish, when he doesn't know a Bass from a Perch. Not likely. Only real fishermen would consider the catching of a fish to be the highpoint of his presidency. Most real fishermen would know the difference between a Bass and a Perch
The WH is now saying it was a Bass that he caught.
Then there was the bicycle spill last year. The WH said that Junior fell off his bike beause, after all the rain in Texas, the ground was loose. After checking tthe Weather service, we learned that there had not been a drop of rain in Texas for over a week when the dumbell took the tumble.
AMERICAblog: Because a great nation deserves the truth:
"Bush told weekly Bild am Sonntag when asked about his high point since becoming president in January 2001.
'I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound perch in my lake.'
The only problem is that the world's record for the largest freshwater perch caught is 4 pounds 3 ounces.
So Bush either doubled the world record, and didn't report it, or he's a liar.
(Major kudos to the Stacy Taylor Show on KLSD-AM in San Diego for catching this.)"
MSNBC reporter: 'I am convinced that Karl Rove will, in fact, be indicted'
Shuster, you had better be right!
The Raw Story MSNBC reporter: 'I am convinced that Karl Rove will, in fact, be indicted':
"Shuster: Well, Karl Rove's legal team has told me that they expect that a decision will come sometime in the next two weeks. And I am convinced that Karl Rove will, in fact, be indicted. And there are a couple of reasons why. First of all, you don't put somebody in front of a grand jury at the end of an investigation or for the fifth time, as Karl Rove testified a couple, a week and a half ago, unless you feel that's your only chance of avoiding indictment. So in other words, the burden starts with Karl Rove to stop the charges. Secondly, it's now been 13 days since Rove testified. After testifying for three and a half hours, prosecutors refused to give him any indication that he was clear. He has not gotten any indication since then."
CIA Nominee Hayden Linked to "Duke" Cunningham scandal
Daily Kos: CIA Nominee Hayden Linked to "Duke" Cunningham scandal:
"Journalist Justin Rood at TPM Muckraker.com is reporting that CIA Director nominee Michael Hayden may be connected to the ever widening Randy 'Duke' Cunningham corruption scandal investigation.
While director of the National Security Agency, Gen. Michael V. Hayden contracted the services of a top executive at the company at the center of the Cunningham bribery scandal, according to two former employees of the company."
Daily Kos: State of the Nation
If she votes for Bush's Spy Guy, she may weel be finished in CA.
Daily Kos: State of the Nation:
"It is through this prism that Democrats must view the Hayden nomination. They must realize that this nomination is not submitted with the best interests of the CIA in mind. If the President was truly concerned about the state of the CIA, why would he nominate a military man? Does he honestly believe such military leadership will ease the tensions between the CIA and the Pentagon? When the Republican Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee points to Hayden's military status and declares him to be the wrong man, at the wrong place, at the wrong time, it's clear that this nominee is not intended to mend fences at the CIA.
Rather, Hayden's nomination has a singular purpose: to halt the Democrats' election year momentum by scaring them into submission. "

Daily Kos: Olbermann: "As Bush Goes, So Does Fox":
"Last week, it was made very clear that FOX's ratings have continued to slide. Making many wonder if the network's fate had been linked to that of the Bush Administration. No one, atleast those that are not partisan hacks, know that FOX is a Pro-Bush network, so the two being linked is no surprise. It is funny that FNC's thorn in the side is the one to make the best sense of it - Keith Olbermann."

How low can you go?
Daily Kos: Gallup: Bush at 31%:
"President Bush's approval rating has slumped to 31% in a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, the lowest of his presidency and a warning sign for Republicans in the November elections.
The survey of 1,013 adults, taken Friday through Sunday, shows Bush's standing down by 3 percentage points in a single week. His disapproval rating also reached a record: 65%. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points."

Republicans breathe sigh of relief as Hayden nominated
Daily Kos: State of the Nation:
"The nomination of Michael Hayden is, at its core, a political decision by Mr. 31%. From a pool of distinguished and competent individuals, the President chose the most divisive and scandal-ridden nominee. And in doing so, Republicans breathe a sigh of relief, thankful that their President threw them an easy pitch.
It is an election year, after all, and Republicans are eager to find an issue--any issue--to exploit and inch up n the polls. Republicans are grateful for Hayden's nomination, since it provides W-brand incumbents a chance to puff up their chests and appear tough on terrorism as they protect Hayden from a barrage of questions about the domestic spying program."
One Excellent Reason Not to Join the Military: You May be Ordered to Kill Civilians
We are commiting war crimes in Iraq as a matter of policy.
One Excellent Reason Not to Join the Military: You May be Ordered to Kill Civilians:
"In January 2003, Jimmy was deployed to Iraq. During the initial invasion he was involved in a number of 'checkpoint killings,' the kind of atrocities that occur over and over today without fanfare or scandal.
A hard-core Marine, Jimmy was in charge of a platoon of machine gunners and missile men. It was their job to secure the road out of Baghdad. As bombs rained down on the ancient city of five million people, civilians fled in panic. There was chaos at the checkpoints.
'All Iraqis,' Jimmy told me in a recent interview, 'were considered a menace.'
'One particular incident really pushed me over the edge. It involved a car with Iraqi civilians. We fired some warning shots, but the car did not slow down. So we lit 'em up. Well, this particular vehicle we didn't destroy completely, and one gentleman on the ground looked up at me and said, 'Why did you kill my brother? We didn't do anything wrong.' That hit me like a ton of bricks. "
War Pimp Alert
"IsraelNN.com) U.S. President George W. Bush said on Sunday that Iran has made 'a specific threat on a partner of the U.S. and Germany,' during an interview with German newspaper Bild.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has previously said that Israel should be 'wiped off the map' and has threatened to aim directly at Israel if the U.S. or anyone else tries to eliminate its nuclear facilities by military force.
Bush maintained he was keeping all options open to resolve the crisis, despite his preference for a diplomatic solution.
Iran has already blocked unscheduled inspections to monitor its compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty by the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency."
US could attack Iran next month
God help us all.
US could attack Iran next month >> .:thebusinessonline.com:.:
"WITH the re-referral of Iran to the UN Security Council by the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA), the international community has signalled its concern, but no more.
There are even deep divisions over imposing meaningful sanctions. But US Vice President Dick Cheney has long spelled out quietly, but clearly, that Tehran will simply not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
It would be entirely out of character for Cheney and the US administration to issue threats and then back down on an issue they consider vital to US security, particularly in the face of Iran ratcheting up the rhetoric and going out of its way to be provocative, stepping up its limited uranium enrichment.
President Mahmoud Ahma-dinejad and other officials have also threatened to withdraw from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty; ban further IAEA inspections, and export nuclear technology to their allies. This last sinister threat was made by Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, to Sudan's rulers. They have also threatened to launch attacks against US and allied interests, presumably in Iraq and possibly Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the West Bank, in retaliation for any American or Israeli attacks on nuclear facilities."
Lapdogs; the U.S. Media
"Cowardly and clueless, the U.S. media abandoned its post as Bush led the country into a disastrous war. A look inside one of the great journalistic collapses of our time.
05/05/07 'Salon' -- -- Thirteen days before he announced United States-led coalition forces had begun the war to 'disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger,' President Bush on the evening of March 6, 2003, strolled into the East Room of the White House at 8:02 p.m. for a rare press conference -- just his eighth since taking office. With war looming, the evening was clouded in a strange dynamic. Perhaps trying to shake off allegations of being a cowboy charging towards war, Bush appeared oddly sedate throughout the prime-time appearance, talking slowly and in a pronounced hush. His low-key approach was mirrored by the ninety-four equally somnambulant reporters assembled that night in the East Room who meekly walked through the motions with Bush."

"Everybody knows the real reason for American belligerence is not the Iranian nuclear program, but the decision to launch an oil bourse where oil will be traded in euros instead of US dollars. The oil market will break the dominance of the dollar and lead to a decline of global American hegemony."
Igor Panarin, Russian political scientist
Overnight the story of Iran's proposed oil bourse has slipped into the mainstream press exposing the real reasons behind Washington's ongoing hostility towards Tehran. Up to this point, analysts have brushed aside the importance of the upcoming oil-exchange as a Leftist-Internet conspiracy theory unworthy of further consideration. Now, the Associated Press has clarified the issue showing that an Iran oil bourse 'could lead central bankers around the world to convert some of their dollar reserves into euros, possibly causing a decline in the dollar's value. Jimmy Carter: Punishing the innocent is a crime
"05/07/06 'IHT' -- -- Innocent Palestinian people are being treated like animals, with the presumption that they are guilty of some crime. Because they voted for candidates who are members of Hamas, the United States government has become the driving force behind an apparently effective scheme of depriving the general public of income, access to the outside world and the necessities of life.
Overwhelmingly, these are school teachers, nurses, social workers, police officers, farm families, shopkeepers, and their employees and families who are just hoping for a better life. Public opinion polls conducted after the January parliamentary election show that 80 percent of Palestinians still want a peace agreement with Israel based on the international road map premises. Although Fatah party members refused to join Hamas in a coalition government, nearly 70 percent of Palestinians continue to support Fatah's leader, Mahmoud Abbas, as their president."
Bush says he had glimpse into Merkel's soul - Yahoo! News
Oh God, not again!
Guess our relationship with the new German government will soon be toast.
Bush says he had glimpse into Merkel's soul - Yahoo! News:
"BERLIN (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Sunday he gained a glimpse into German Chancellor Angela Merkel's soul when they met in Washington last week. "
Ahmadinejad sends letter to Bush
Now the question is whether Bush the Brat will read it.
BBC NEWS World Middle East Ahmadinejad sends letter to Bush:
"Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written to George W Bush proposing 'new solutions' to their differences.
The letter will be sent via the Swiss Embassy, which represents US interests in Iran, a government spokesman said.
Mr Ahmadinejad proposes 'new solutions for getting out of international problems and the current fragile situation of the world', he said.
Reports say it is the first letter from an Iranian president to a US leader since the Iranian revolution in 1979. "
Iran attack debate raises nuclear prospect
"Nobody was advocating it, they were just saying a 100% guarantee. Where it becomes interesting, the joint chiefs, in one of its subsequent papers, wanted to withdraw that option because of course it's madness, a nuclear weapon in the Middle East to an Arab [sic] Muslim country, my God. And the White House won't withdraw.
'
That's the issue, that the White House, some people there still wanted to have this option. That's what's causing the trauma, not that they're going to do it, but the White House won't take it off the table.' "
Iran threat to quit atomic treaty
"Iran's parliament has threatened to pull out of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty if Western pressure over its programme increases.
The threat came in a statement made a day before key UN members discuss a tough draft resolution on the issue.
Pulling out of the NPT is the ultimate threat of non-cooperation by Iran, says our Tehran correspondent. "
Colbert shows media who's boss
"Colbert was no laughing matter to the Washington press corps. In a delicious touch of irony, he later said on his TV show that the adoring Washington audience 'practically carried me out on their shoulders, even though I wasn't ready to go.' During the evening of frivolity, Colbert's biting wit lanced the illicit relationship between the media and those they are charged to cover.
Bush has sunk beneath the possibility of satire; the media must be careful not to stumble beyond the reach of irony."
Cruella and the Defense Contractor; in hot water
HEhehehehe....
CorpWatch:US: Katherine Harris in Hot Water Over Defense Contractor:
"A political strategist who left U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris (news, bio, voting record)'s Senate campaign last month said Harris ignored her staff's recommendation to reject a defense contractor's $10 million appropriation request, now being challenged by a congressional watchdog group.
Harris insisted the request be submitted even though it was late and hard to understand, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel's Thursday editions. The newspaper cites Harris' former chief political strategist Ed Rollins.
'She told them she wanted it done,' Rollins told the paper. 'And she wanted it done now.'"
Is the White House looking for another unitary executive fight?
Bring it on!
The Democrats are not getting the message out. The White House has been spying on political opposition, both in Washington and outside the beltway.
Hayden refused to answer, when asked at the Naional press club, if there had been spying on political opposition and on news reporters..
Someone needs to ask him again during the hearings.
Likely CIA pick backed eavesdropping - The Boston Globe:
"WASHINGTON -- The nomination of General Michael V. Hayden to take over the CIA could trigger a fresh battle over the secret warrantless surveillance program he oversaw on behalf of President Bush, a debate that could help shape the fall midterm congressional elections, officials in both parties said yesterday."
Vice Squad (a must read)
So, now we learn that there are all kinds of people whom we are paying, but who refuse to even allow their names to be known.
Why are we paying these people? For all we know they could be members of the Mob.
Actually they are members of a kind of mob.
They are members of a pro-zionist cabal with mixed loyalties between Israel and the U.S.
American Prospect Online - Vice Squad:
"They terrorize other government officials, and they're so secretive that their names aren't even revealed to a harmless federal employee directory. And they've helped ruin the country. Meet Dick Cheney's staff."
The Intelligence Business
It is anti-democracy to lie to the people of a democracy.
Can't something be done about a Senator who will not do his damn job?
Old "Cover-up" Roberts just keeps on procrastinating.
The Intelligence Business - New York Times:
"We've been waiting for well over two years for the Senate Intelligence Committee to finally hold the Bush administration accountable for the fairy tales it told about Saddam Hussein's weapons. Republican leaders keep saying it is a waste of time to find out whether President Bush and other top officials deliberately misled the world. But Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's bizarre responses the other day to questions about that very issue were a timely reminder of why this investigation needs to be completed promptly, thoroughly and fairly.
Unfortunately, Pat Roberts, the chairman of the Senate panel, is running it in a way that makes it unlikely that anything useful will come of it.
It is bad enough that Mr. Rumsfeld and others did not tell Americans the full truth - to take the best-case situation - before the war. But they are still doing it. Just look at the profoundly twisted version of events that the defense secretary offered last week at a public event in Atlanta."
Dubai firm completes deal for Doncasters - Boston.com
Why hasn't this been all over Cabal News?
Dubai firm completes deal for Doncasters - Boston.com:
"DUBAI, United Arab Emirates --A Dubai-owned company on Sunday announced the $1.3 billion purchase of Doncasters Group Ltd., which operates factories that make parts for U.S. military vehicles and aircraft.
The deal by Dubai International Capital comes two months after U.S. lawmakers stopped a different Dubai company from buying a British firm that operated six U.S. ports. The lawmakers cited national security concerns about an Arab company running the ports.
The purchase passed two months of scrutiny by the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States, a 12-agency panel headed by the U.S. Treasury Department that reviews transactions involving national security."
Taking a page from Rumsfeld's book
Maybe Bolton can get a hint by looking at the way Cheney and Rummy sabotaged Kissinger 30 years ago.
Of course, nowadays, Cheney is the VP. Could complicate things a bit.
Taking a page from Rumsfeld's book - baltimoresun.com:
"Suppose you are a new White House chief of staff. One of the difficulties you face is an extraordinarily powerful, well-entrenched Cabinet secretary who enjoys the strong support of the president. What do you do? Not to be vague about it: How should Joshua B. Bolten, who is driving to reshape the Bush administration, deal with Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, who is fast becoming a political liability and may resist any serious change of direction? "
Dean: No Impeachment Plans for Bush
The rest of us will be threatening to burn D.C. to the ground if investigations are not forthcoming.
ABC News: Dean: No Impeachment Plans for Bush:
"May 7, 2006: Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean predicted ethics troubles would hurt Republicans' chances of holding the House and Senate in November, saying 'This is a culture of corruption that they have brought to Washington.'
In an exclusive Sunday interview on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Dean dismissed the idea that Democrats would seek to impeach President Bush if they won back control of Congress - a possibility floated by Republicans looking to galvanize their base. "
NPR wrongly suggested Reid, Stabenow face "ethics allegations" over Abramoff contributions
Do we have Fox News contamination at NPR now?
Media Matters - NPR wrongly suggested Reid, Stabenow face "ethics allegations" over Abramoff contributions:
"Summary: NPR's Andrea Seabrook reported that one of Democrats' 'big problems right now' is 'convincing voters that the so-called 'culture of corruption' is a Republican thing.' According to Seabrook, 'there's a growing list of ethics allegations against Democrats in Congress,' and as examples, she noted: 'Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid [D-NV], Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, and others took campaign contributions from Indian tribes that were associated with [disgraced former lobbyist] Jack Abramoff.' In fact, neither Reid nor Stabenow are facing allegations of ethical misconduct regarding Abramoff contributions, and the mere receipt of contributions from Abramoff clients is not an indication of corruption."
Pentagon prepares for hurricane season (WARNING; the Moonie Times)
Bush doesn't know how to deal with anything if he can't send the military.
This is pathetic.
Pentagon prepares for hurricane season-Nation/Politics-The Washington Times, America's Newspaper:
"COLORADO SPRINGS (AP) -- The Pentagon is buying cellular and satellite phone vans, cutting paperwork to speed delivery of aircraft, troops and supplies to stricken areas and already is sending military officers to Gulf states ahead of the hurricane season that starts June 1.
But military officials fear falling short of the public's expectations when the next storm hits, given that the memories of New Orleans' devastation are still vivid and frustration with the federal response still raw.
'The expectations of our citizens ... have gotten so high that regardless of the responder -- local, state, National Guard and Defense Department -- folks will be disappointed that they can't get everything they need right away,' said Adm. Timothy Keating, commander of U.S. Northern Command. "
Countdown to Catastrophe
"Asked about reports that the U.S. is contemplating a nuclear strike against sites in Iran, President Bush replied:
'All options are on the table. We want to solve this issue diplomatically and we're working hard to do so.'
Translation: Duck and cover!
No one can predict if and when a nuclear strike or a conventional attack will be launched against Iran. But the reality that nuking Iran is even being considered is frightening in itself. It tells us what kind of a world we are living in, one in which our moral sense has become so dulled as to be practically nonexistent. "
Grandin on Rumsfeld's Latin American Wild West Show
Logically, the Bushites should spell the end of the Republican Party as we have known it since Eisenhower left office. If the Rethugs come out of their latest debacle as anything but over, America will not survive.
TomDispatch - Tomgram: Grandin on Rumsfeld's Latin American Wild West Show:
"It was in Central America, remember, that President Ronald Reagan first actively faced off against the 'Evil Empire.' It was through Central American policy that the previously distinct strands of conservatism and neoconservatism first broke foreign bread (and foreign heads) together. It was the crucible upon which the ideas and constituencies that drive Bush's aggressive foreign policy today were first hammered out. It was the place that secular neocons and anti-communist militarists came together with the Christian New Right to oppose Catholicism's Liberation Theology, which, for them, was the radical Islam of its moment -- at a time when Reagan's CIA director was playing footsy in Afghanistan and elsewhere with the Islamic jihadists who would later be melded with the 'axis of evil' into the War on Terror.
Central America was also where Republicans first embraced the idealist language of spreading 'democracy' abroad as a key justification for an aggressive, violent, preemptive foreign policy. It was in relation to Central America that, through the Office of Public Diplomacy, the executive branch first used a full range of PR 'perception management' techniques to sell a war -- again anticipating the media manipulation that led to the invasion of Iraq.
Finally, it was in what became the Iran-Contra scandal that Republicans first tried to bypass many of the restrictions on the presidency put into place (however feebly) after Vietnam and Watergate, foreshadowing the vast, half-secret expansion of executive powers in the last five years. Not for nothing did so many of the current administration's officials and hangers on -- John Negroponte, Elliot Abrams, Otto Reich, Donald Kagan, Michael Ledeen, even John Bolton -- come out of Central America.
His Legacy and His Library Occupy Bush's Thoughts - New York Times
Where does one house a legacy of contempt for democracy, the poor and middle class; not to mention war crimes, shredding the constitution and election theft?
His Legacy and His Library Occupy Bush's Thoughts - New York Times:
"WASHINGTON: President Bush had dinner last month on the Stanford University campus at the home of George P. Shultz, who was President Ronald Reagan's secretary of state, and the topic of conversation was not, as might be expected, the war in Iraq. Instead, guests said, Mr. Bush spent the evening focused on how he could create a public policy center with his presidential library after he leaves office in 2009."
Rove Is Using Threat of Loss to Stir G.O.P. - New York Times
These guys have committed the worst crimes in American history. It's easy to see why they wouldn't want to have to face the consequences of those actions.
I wonder if the Republicans will continue the cover-up when they realize they could be held complicit if Bush, Cheney and company are arrested te minute they leave office in 2009, if they are not impeached and tossed out?
Rove Is Using Threat of Loss to Stir G.O.P. - New York Times:
"WASHINGTON, May 5: To anyone who doubts the stakes for the White House in this year's midterm Congressional elections, consider that Representative John Conyers Jr. of Michigan, the Democrat who would become chairman of the Judiciary Committee if his party recaptured the House, has called for an inquiry into the possible impeachment of President Bush over the war in Iraq. "
Behind the Goss toss
Gambling, prostitutes and ineptitude, Oh My!
New York Daily News - Home - Behind the Goss toss:
"WASHINGTON - A little-known White House advisory board convinced a reluctant President Bush to launch yet another high-profile shakeup of the nation's intelligence community and can CIA Director Porter Goss, sources said yesterday.
Bush had already gotten an earful from Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte on the shortcomings of Goss, but the final push came from the 'very alarmed' President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, intelligence and Congressional sources said.
Alarms were set off at the advisory board by a widening FBI sex and cronyism investigation that's targeted Kyle (Dusty) Foggo, the No.3 official at the CIA, and also touched on Goss himself."
War on a credit card
We have a president who has never succeeded in a damn thing he has ever been involved in, so why are we surprissed that he is a failure at being CEO of America. (How many coompanies has he run into the ground?)
We stockholders should demand his resignation or fire him.
Funny Money on Iraq - New York Times:
"President Bush is trying to score unearned points for fiscal rectitude by railing against the Senate's outsize $109 billion supplemental spending package, which includes money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as hurricane relief. But the real scandal is Mr. Bush's own preference for financing much of the cost of the Iraq war outside the normal budget process. That is convenient for the administration, which does not have to count the money when it is pretending to balance the budget. But Iraq is not some kind of unexpected emergency, like Hurricane Katrina. It is a highly predictable cost, now amounting to about $100 billion a year, or just under 20 percent of total military spending. "
Rove's Time in Limbo Near End in CIA Leak Case
Rove's Time in Limbo Near End in CIA Leak Case:
"Fitzgerald is weighing Rove's foggy-memory defense against evidence he has acquired over nearly 2 1/2 years that shows Rove was very involved in White House efforts to beat back allegations that Bush twisted U.S. intelligence to justify the Iraq war, according to sources involved in the case.
That evidence includes details of a one-week period in July 2003 when Rove talked to two reporters about Plame and her CIA role, then reported the conversations back to high-level White House aides, according to sources in the case and information released by Fitzgerald as part of the ongoing leak investigation." Did Bush Force British Minister Out?, London Papers: Foreign Secretary Jack Straw's Iran Stance Prompted Angry Bush Call To Blair - CBS News:
"(CBS/AP) Two London papers have speculated this weekend that complaints by President George W. Bush forced a British minister from his post because of his opposition to the use of nuclear force against Iran.
The Independent suggests that a phone call from the U.S. president to British Prime Minister Tony Blair led to the removal of Foreign Secretary Jack Straw Friday.
The newspaper reports that friends of Straw believe Mr. Bush was extremely upset when Straw pronounced any use of nuclear weapons against Iran 'nuts.' "

CNN.com - Democratswant price gouging a federal crime - May 6, 2006:

NBC, CBS, Fox cropped Rumsfeld questioner's challenges, Rumsfeld's "stammering" replies
...and the news media continues on its road to irrelevancy.
Media Matters - NBC, CBS, Fox cropped Rumsfeld questioner's challenges, Rumsfeld's "stammer[ing]" replies:
"Summary: After a speech by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld on May 4, retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern questioned Rumsfeld over his previous claims about Iraq's purported weapons of mass destruction and ties to Al Qaeda. Rumsfeld gave misleading answers, which McGovern pointed out during the exchange. But in their coverage, NBC, CBS, and Fox News deceptively edited the exchange, excluding McGovern's rebuttals of Rumsfeld's claims without noting that they had done so."
White House is warned against Bush nominee for head of CIA
Get a grip Arlen. He isn't going to tell you a damn thing. So unless you are willing to hold him in contempt or something, you will have to vote him down, and he will still have a job with "death squad enabler," Negroponte
Guardian Unlimited Special reports White House is warned against Bush nominee for head of CIA:
"The Bush administration, which emerged from the September 11 2001 attacks vowing to make the United States safe from terrorists, was yesterday warned that it risked provoking a new crisis over intelligence if the president appointed a controversial general to head the CIA. Mr Bush is widely expected to nominate General Michael Hayden as head of the intelligence agency today, three days after the abrupt departure of the agency's director, Porter Goss."

Media Matters - Beck agreed with caller's claim that "the left" will make "a celebrity" out of Moussaoui
CNN actually hired this idiot?
Write to CNN!
This is an outrageous thing to say. What the hll is this guy smoking?
Here is the the real issue, you dumbass; Moussoui is a nobody!
Maybe now that the psychotic nobody has been convicted, the Bush governent will release the evidence, they felt they had to protect, in order for him to have a fair trial. (Yeah right)
If anyone has made the fool a celebrity, it is Cabal TV, who seems never to tire of giving him air time, or hiring jackasses, apparently.
Media Matters - Beck agreed with caller's claim that "the left" will make "a celebrity" out of Moussaoui:
"Summary: Newly hired CNN commentator Glenn Beck said a caller was 'exactly right' in predicting that 'the left' would make convicted September 11 terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui a 'celebrity,' because Moussaoui was sentenced to life in prison rather than to death. Later in the show, Beck declared: '[I]n 30 years, I think this guy [Moussaoui] could become the next [Stanley] 'Tookie' Williams.'"

"'Now, the press sees the president only at tightly controlled and orchestrated press conferences. In addition, Thomas sees a growing -- and alarming -- reluctance among reporters to question government spokesmen and probe for the truth. The result has been a wholesale failure by journalists to fulfill what is arguably their most vital role in contemporary American life -- to be the watchdogs of democracy. Today's journalists, according to Thomas, have become subdued, compromised lapdogs.' (h/t Voxpogirl)

Confident Democrats Lay Out Agenda
It is about the very survival of our Democratic Republic, which is currently on life-support.
Confident Democrats Lay Out Agenda:
"Democratic leaders, increasingly confident they will seize control of the House in November, are laying plans for a legislative blitz during their first week in power that would raise the minimum wage, roll back parts of the Republican prescription drug law, implement homeland security measures and reinstate lapsed budget deficit controls.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said in an interview last week that a Democratic House would launch a series of investigations of the Bush administration, beginning with the White House's first-term energy task force and probably including the use of intelligence in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. Pelosi denied Republican allegations that a Democratic House would move quickly to impeach President Bush. But, she said of the planned investigations, 'You never know where it leads to.'"
Pollster Suggests Bush Moves Might Be Too Little, Too Late
Oh, it's over alright!
Providing there is not yet another 'new Pearl Harbor,' that is...
Pollster Suggests Bush Moves Might Be Too Little, Too Late:
"The recent White House shake-up was an attempt to jump-start the administration and boost President Bush's rock-bottom approval ratings, but have those efforts come too late to salvage the presidency? A prominent GOP pollster thinks that may be the case.
'This administration may be over,' Lance Tarrance, a chief architect of the Republicans' 1960s and '70s Southern strategy, told a gathering of journalists and political wonks last week. 'By and large, if you want to be tough about it, the relevancy of this administration on policy may be over.'"
Circling the White House (This early could cause the plane to go down from a lack of fuel)
We are busy with 2006 and do not have time to be focusing on 2008.
At the rate Bush is going, we may not have a Democracy by 2008. (What am I saying? That died in 2000. The work at hand now is to revive it.)
Circling the White House:
"John McCain : Solidifying his front-runner status despite mistrust of him in conservative and GOP establishment circles. The worse President Bush does, the more desperate Republicans become, and the more likely they will turn to their own 'change' candidate. Plus, he keeps beating Hillary Clinton in polls. Is the train pulling out of the station?"
Please God, No More Bushes and No More Clintons; not in my lifetime!
Hillary Clinton: Too Much of a Clinton Democrat?:
"Hillary Clinton has a few problems if she wants to secure the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. She is a leader who fails to lead. She does not appear 'electable.' But most of all, Hillary has a Bill Clinton problem. (And no, it's not about that. )
Moving into 2008, Republicans will be fighting to shake off the legacy of the Bush years: the jobless recovery, the foreign misadventures, the nightmarish fiscal mismanagement, the Katrina mess, unimaginable corruption and an imperial presidency with little regard for the Constitution or the rule of law. Every Democratic contender will be offering change, but activists will be demanding the sort of change that can come only from outside the Beltway."
John McCain: Can He Be a Falwell Republican?
If he manages to sway the crusading crack-pots, he will lose moderates and others who have had a gut full of the Foulwellians and the followers of the Mullah Robertson.
They have showed their true colors over the past 6 years in a way that cannot be ignored by the non-religiously insane.
If he doesn't, he will lose the the lockstep, christo-fascist activists aid, and cannot win.
John McCain: Can He Be a Falwell Republican?:
"Last October, J. David Woodard, a Clemson University political scientist who doubles as a strategist for conservative Republican candidates, polled 450 South Carolina GOP voters, asking: 'When it comes to politics, do you consider yourself closer to George W. Bush or John McCain?' Sixty-three percent picked Bush. Twenty-one percent said it made no difference. And just 16 percent chose McCain.
The message? 'I think McCain has a lot of work to do if he's going to win here,' Woodard told me recently. 'There is a long-term memory, especially with Christian conservatives, about his comments after the 2000 race.'"

Kerry accuses Bush of creating 'spirit of intolerance' on war
The Bushites will stop at nothing; the very definitaion of political thuggery.
We are damned tired of it.
Kerry accuses Bush of creating 'spirit of intolerance' on war - Boston.com:
"GRINNELL, Iowa --Sen. John Kerry accused the Bush administration on Saturday of stirring up a 'spirit of intolerance' to suppress dissent over the war in Iraq.
The Massachusetts Democrat said the Bush administration is targeting opponents of the Iraq war in much the same way he was attacked for protesting failed policies in Vietnam in the 1970s.
'Dismissing dissent is not only wrong but dangerous when America's leadership is unwilling to admit mistakes, unwilling to engage in honest discussion and unwilling to hold itself accountable for the consequences of decisions made without genuine disclosure or genuine debate,' Kerry said."
Hayden is a liar and good friend of John "Death-squads" Negforponte
Death Squads have ben reincarnated in Iraq.
Hullabaloo:
"Gen. Michael Hayden refused to answer question about spying on political enemies at National Press Club. At a public appearance, Bush's pointman in the Office of National Intelligence was asked if the NSA was wiretapping Bush's political enemies. When Hayden dodged the question, the questioner repeated, 'No, I asked, are you targeting us and people who politically oppose the Bush government, the Bush administration? Not a fishing net, but are you targeting specifically political opponents of the Bush administration?' Hayden looked at the questioner, and after a silence called on a different questioner. (Hayden National Press Club remarks, 1/23/06)
And this General Hayden:
I'm disappointed I guess that perhaps the default response for some is to assume the worst. I'm trying to communicate to you that the people who are doing this, okay, go shopping in Glen Burnie and their kids play soccer in Laurel, and they know the law. They know American privacy better than the average American, and they're dedicated to it. So I guess the message I'd ask you to take back to your communities is the same one I take back to mine. This is focused. It's targeted. It's very carefully done. You shouldn't worry."

"But despite the trail of problems dating to the 1980's, many prominent politicians have accepted campaign contributions and speaking fees from Mr. Burgess and his company, which offers organizational and financial advice, mostly to owners of small businesses, and claims annual revenues of more than $200 million.
Former President George Bush was paid $82,000 to speak at a company banquet in 1999, and former President Bill Clinton received $125,000 to appear in 2001.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has collected more than $150,000 in contributions from executives of International Profit Associates, some as recently as September, and spoke at a company event in 2004. As a group, company officials and their spouses are one of the largest sources of contributions to Mrs. Clinton's re-election campaign."

IDemocrats to hit blogs to get message out
"In a call to bloggers this afternoon monitored by RAW STORY, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) outlined the Democratic strategy for winning the 2006 elections.
Pelosi and her fellow Democrats went into the current congress with an exceedingly weak hand. Republicans held both houses of the legislature, and Senator John Kerry's (D-MA) loss to President Bush in the general election left many within the party disillusioned. The Democrats had no way to govern, and very limited ways of getting their message out.
According to the Congresswoman, even liberal papers often refused space for Democrats out of fear of losing access to Republicans, who controlled both houses of congress and the presidency. 'It was across the board,' the Congresswoman said. 'We couldn't get the established media to really tell the tale,.' "
Memo to Bush: Veto this porker
BostonHerald.com - Opinion & Letters: Memo to Bush: Veto this porker:
"The Senate's offer of up to a $500 million loan to the nation's third-largest defense contractor is just the latest smelly pork addition to a very bad bill. This unneeded favor is one more reason for President Bush to issue his first veto of what was supposed to be an emergency spending bill to fund military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan and hurricane relief.
The contractor, Northrop Grumman Corp., operates shipyards in Mississippi and Louisiana that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. They are back at work on Navy contracts and the company is in court with its insurer over how much more, if any, it is owed for repair costs. "

Microsoft's $1.6 Million Man (Seattle Weekly):
"After it was disclosed a year ago that Microsoft had retained Ralph Reed Jr. for lobbying and consulting work, a mystery remained. How much was the Christian conservative and anti-gay-rights crusader paid by the Redmond software giant? Microsoft refused to say, but now Reed has had to disclose the income. It comes to a substantial $1.6 million over five years, according to Reed's personal financial documents."

Chevron Memo Raises Suspicion
If the government doesn't do something about these pigs, the people should!
Chevron Memo Raises Suspicion - News - MSNBC.com:
"SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A Chevron memo is raising suspicion that oil executives intentionally reduced refining capacity in an effort to boost profits. The 1995 memo, obtained by Consumers Union, reads:
'If the U.S. petroleum industry doesn't reduce it's refining capacity, it will never see any substantial increase in refinery profits.'
In the last 20 years, 18 of California's 32 refineries have shut down. The industry is now seeing record prices and profits at the pump. "

BushCo is a freakin' disgrace to this country and to humanity, in general
"IN the 'you must be joking!' domain of international affairs, The New York Times reports [] that 'long running' efforts by the United States to repatriate prisoners held at Guantanamo have been 'stymied' because the returnees might not be treated humanely by their own governments! These are detainees, who have been held without trial and subjected to who knows what horrors for years (if Abu Ghraib is anything to go by) and are now (presumably) being released for lack of evidence against them. The U.S. State Department's human rights bureau is apparently insisting that any transfer deal include clear assurances that prisoners will not be tortured and will be treated in accordance with international humanitarian law, and that those pledges can be verified. The Times has one unidentified Middle East diplomat quoted as saying: 'It's kind of ironic that the U.S. government is placing conditions on other countries that it would not follow itself at Guantanamo or Abu Ghraib.' Former NSA Director Hayden Lied To Congress And Broke The Law
This guy lied in your faces and you will be needing to remember that when you are asked to confirm him.
Think Progress Former NSA Director Hayden Lied To Congress And Broke The Law:
"As Think Progress documented back in December, Hayden misled Congress. In his 10/17/02 testimony, he told a committee investigating the 9/11 attacks that any surveillance of persons in the United States was done consistent with FISA.
At the time of his statements, Hayden was fully aware of the presidential order to conduct warrantless domestic spying issued the previous year. But Hayden didn't feel as though he needed to share that with Congress. Apparently, Hayden believed that he had been legally authorized to conduct the surveillance, but told Congress that he had no authority to do exactly what he was doing. The Fraud and False Statements statute (18 U.S.C. 1001) make Hayden's misleading statements to Congress illegal. "
Bush Advises Graduates on Technology
ABC News: Bush Advises Graduates on Technology:
"STILLWATER, Okla. May 6, 2006 (AP): President Bush advised college graduates on Saturday to use technology but not become enslaved by it.
'Science offers the prospect of eventual cures for terrible diseases and temptations to manipulate life and violate human dignity,' Bush said during commencement exercises at Oklahoma State University. 'With the Internet, you can communicate instantly with someone halfway across the world and isolate yourself from your family and your neighbors.'
The nation's young generation will wrestle to resolve these dilemmas, he said. "
