Spitzer's WTC fury

This is Bush's America.

9/11 made it America Bush's nation, run by his rules and moral code.

It is appropriate, don't you think, that NYC cannot rebuild those towers, because of Enron-style corruption.

The whole world is filled with it, these days. What in the world made Spitzer think that the LMDC would be any different?

New York Daily News - Home - Spitzer's WTC fury:

"Eliot Spitzer blasted the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. yesterday, calling the post-9/11 rebuilding effort an 'Enron-style debacle' - sparking an angry rebuttal from Gov. Pataki, whose camp took a thinly veiled swipe at the state attorney general's patriotism.

The Democratic gubernatorial front-runner's strong words also threatened to reignite his feud with outgoing LMDC boss John Whitehead, a Pataki appointee.

In Buffalo for this week's state Democratic convention, Spitzer told New York 1 that the Pataki-controlled agency had been an 'abject failure.' He cited the skyrocketing cost estimates for the World Trade Center Memorial, now at $1 billion - a price tag that's spurred orders for an overhaul.

'Those who are running the LMDC deserve an enormous piece of the criticism,' Spitzer said.

'This was an Enron-style debacle where they have violated their duty to the public. ... Now they're beginning to throw in the towel one by one,' he said in what seemed to be a direct slap at Whitehead, who recently announced he was stepping down from the LMDC and World Trade Center Memorial Foundation"
