Lieberman's Eroding Base

What's this about Democratic anger over Lieberman not following the "party line?"

What party line? Democrats do not do lockstep, as any one with more than one neuron firing knows.

Lieberman got up on the Senate floor and practically condemned Clinton to hell for his sins in office. Yes, it was immoral, disgusting and all of that, but it didn't kill anyone or threaten to destroy the country. Democrats continued to support Lieberman.

What Democrats are upset with Lieberman about is much more important than any party line. He is leaping and skipping through the gates of hell with Bush and his armageddon cheerleaders, while rattling off Rovian talking points, which he must be receiving daily.

He has allied himself with the worst president in the history of this country, a bunch of war criminals and the most corrupt government in recent memory.

That is why Democrats, and anyone with a lick of sense, is pulling their support from Lieberman.

Lieberman's Eroding Base:

But this year, as Lieberman battles for a fourth term in the Senate, Stolberg has reluctantly endorsed his ally's
Democratic primary opponent, multimillionaire businessman and political neophyte Ned Lamont. 'It's been a wrenching decision. I've supported him every step,' Stolberg said of Lieberman. 'But the issues and the principles trump 40 years of friendship.'
