"Time to End the Sound Bite ''We're at War'' and too, Time to End the ''War on Terror''"

The sad part is, this would have stopped working a long time ago, if we had a thinking electorate.

The Progressive Daily Beacon: "Time to End the Sound Bite ''We're at War'' and too, Time to End the ''War on Terror''":

"'We're at war' is one of the GOP's favorite sound bites. That cute little phrase and all GOP sound bites like 'cut and run' and 'stay the course' and 'surrender is not an option' and 'flip-flop' and 'fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here' and 'when the Iraqis stand-up we'll stand-down' and 'tax and spend liberals' and, well, the list continues on toward infinity being limited only by the GOP's twisted imagination.

All those sound bites serve two simple purposes: First they are easy to repeat, require no thought whatsoever and are, therefore, guaranteed to be replayed over and again in the media. Second the sound bites convey a message, which, not based on reality or fact, cannot be refuted and, therefore, prevent an honest discussion that could result in a real solution to problems facing the country."
