Ex-speechwriter says Bush worked hard to polish skills


Bush's Christian speechwriter fails to recognize the importance of telling the truth in speeches.

It matters not how polished one's speaking ability is, after one has been caugh in several dozen huge lies, with even bigger consequesnces for this country and her people.

It matters not how many times the word God is used, if the name is used to distract from the evil that is really going on in this administration.

WASHINGTON - President Bush's former speechwriter says Bush has worked diligently to improve his speaking skills.

Michael Gerson, 42, the policy adviser and speechwriter who left the White House staff July 1 after more than seven years on the job, says Bush spent countless hours drafting, revising, editing and rehearsing major addresses, including three or four dry runs with a teleprompter.
