Death Squad Allegations Threaten to Derail Bush's Last Latin Ally

O.K., what damned decade is this, anyway?

Slightly OT, but....

Just yestarday I was back in the 60's, hanging at the Bluebird and learning to see things differently.

Now, I am back in the 80s with more of Reagan's proxy wars and death squads in South and Central America. Now they are also in Iraq.

Don't these guys have any other real schtick, other than commie paranoia.

What are these people really afraid of?

Not tyranny. They still have many tyrant buddies, all over the world; "good allies in the war on Turr," we are told.

Not even terrorism, if the latest reports are to be believed; that the Bushites have hired MEK, a terrorist organization, to do quite a bit of their dirty work, leading up to whatever totally insane crime they are about to commit, if we cannot stop them...and then there are all those unprotected ports, public transportation ( other than planes, of course), nuclear reactors, chemical plants, our food water and pretty much everything else...unprotected...because "bidnessmen" said all that extra security would cost too much.

So, what the hell are they really afraid of:

Maybe they are afraid that more people will finally see, that capitalism is not the same thing as Democracy. Democracy is not dependant on strict capitalism for it's existence, let alone Capitalism on Steroids.

Maybe they are afraid that people will see, that socialism, as practiced in the Soviet Union, was a lie and a fraud on the people of Russia and other nations, just as surely as the capitalism of today is a lie and a fraud on the American people and many others around the world.

Either system, when over-whelmed, for whatever reason, by greed, lust for power and elitism, will fail, eventually. Both systems seem to ignore greed as much as possible. Neither system gives greed its due as one of the deadliest deadly sins there is.

Lust for power is about as dangerous as it gets, because lust for power always has to do with power over the governed, not power with continuing consent of the governed.

If we are up to our old death squad support trick, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc, should be incarcerated for life!

Death Squad Allegations Threaten to Derail Bush's Last Latin Ally:

"Alvaro Uribe's procession to a second term as Colombia's President hit a stumbling block yesterday as he responded wildly to allegations that his government colluded with paramilitaries to kill civilians.
Mr Uribe, the last man standing among Washington's right-wing allies in South America, is riding high in the polls ahead of the presidential election on 28 May. His success is crucial to the White House, which has seen a succession of sympathetic governments defeated in the so-called 'pink wave' of left-wing leaders who have swept to power in Latin America.
But allegations that have haunted the short-tempered politician since he won the presidency in 2002 have resurfaced. They involve an alleged conspiracy to assassinate leftists and union leaders, and leaking sensitive information to drug traffickers and right-wing paramilitary groups."
