States' Rights -- for the Right Ideas

I don't know why this should be all that big a surprise. So many of the federal laws are stupid beyond belief and cause more problems than they could ever hope to solve.

The Federal government should be about protecting us from sociopathic corporations and wealthy special interests, domestically, and foreign enemies (real ones).

The federal government should not be in the business of protecting us from ourselves and should get out of the business of criminalizing adult consensual behavior.

States' Rights -- for the Right Ideas:

"Liberals and Democrats in search of new ideas might surprise everyone by embracing the cause of states' rights.

No, that doesn't mean abandoning federal enforcement of civil rights, or environmental or worker safety statutes. That old states' rights idea should stay dead."
