Israel: Ceasefire plan halts new push

Well, this is a waste of time, but if it prevents another loss of innocent life, we are all for it.

We have the feeling it is just a PR move.

New York Daily News - World & National Report - Ceasefire plan halts new push:

JERUSALEM - Israel has decided to hold off on plans for a massive new ground offensive into southern Lebanon to give diplomats working on a ceasefire agreement more time, an Israeli cabinet minister and senior officials said today.
Israel's security cabinet approved an expanded ground offensive in Lebanon yesterday, a decision that came on the deadliest day of the war for Israeli troops in Lebanon, with 15 soldiers killed.

But Prime Minister Ehud Olmert decided to put the campaign on hold for two or three days to see whether diplomatic efforts will produce results, a senior Israeli official said this morning on condition of anonymity.
