Today, in CT., presages one hell of an electiion year!

Even if Lieberman wins, in a close vote, the message has been sent.

Will it be heard?

Pro-war stance hurts Lieberman:

HARTFORD, Conn. -- For an indication of how pivotal the war in Iraq may be in November elections across the country, take a look at Connecticut on Tuesday.

The question of what to do in Iraq is at the heart of a nasty primary battle between anti-war candidate Ned Lamont and three-term Sen. Joe Lieberman, who supported the war and favors a stay-the-course approach.

Voters' decision on whether to cast out Lieberman could have national implications for Democrats as a referendum on the war.

'If he is defeated, it may say that the grass-roots Demo-crats are not interested in centrists on the Iraq issue,'' said Andy Kohut, president of the Pew Research Center.
